According to the Brookings Institute Approximately 60,000 people are being detained in ICE detention facilities in the United States and approximately 400,000 people have been booked in detention centers managed by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Many of the people held in ICE detention have children who are either detained in ICE facilities, or they are wards of the state in which they live. Either way children are separated from their parents, siblings and extended family. Children shouldn't be separated from their families while their parent's immigration status is being adjudicated. Many of the children caught up in the recent immigration dragnets are American citizens and some have even been deported along with their parents which is against their constitutional rights.
